Welcome to our Web Site

The Fellowship of St. Silas is a pan-Orthodox Christian prison ministry whose goal is to work in a unified way on behalf of those who are behind prison walls. The many prisoners to whom we minister across the country simply desire to pray, repent and be nurtured in their faith.

Christ is in our midst!

Television has become the message of what I like to call, "the social gospel." If we see a commentary on the television then it must be true. Sometimes the media can become an enemy of the Gospel of Christ.

propheteliasI do watch T.V. and love the educational and historical teachings that I see. But I will have to tell you I watch T.V. with a "clouded eye". In other words I know that some programs are not a true reality of life.

The life of one in prison is sometimes harsh and uncomfortable. Recently I received a letter from one of our brethren who explained it quite well.

"The heat is at full hand. I have a new "friend" in my cell who I call

Tiger. Tiger is a desert lizard who comes into my cell. It is so

hot in my cell I like to lay on the cement floor to try to get cool.

There are lots of bugs that come into our cell and when Tiger came

one night, I saw him chasing after a small bug. . .he comes in the

morning and disappears at night. God has sent me a "friend".

(Richard in Indiana)

I have always said, that little is much when God is in it. The reality of life is not easy but God visits us through His creation in many ways. The last couple of months (May, June) we could not send letters or send icon prayers and books to our prisoners because our funds were the lowest they have ever been. I have included our May letter that was prepared, but not sent to you due to lack of funds. Please pray for our prisoners and for their salvation, that the Lord will provide the funds to continue this ministry.

May the beauty of heaven consume you. . .Fr. David
