Welcome to our Web Site

The Fellowship of St. Silas is a pan-Orthodox Christian prison ministry whose goal is to work in a unified way on behalf of those who are behind prison walls. The many prisoners to whom we minister across the country simply desire to pray, repent and be nurtured in their faith.

January 2012

"I waited patiently for the Lord, and He heeded me; And He
heard my supplication, And brought me up out of a miserable
pit And from miry clay; And He established my feet on a rock
And kept straight my steps. He put a new song in my mouth, A
hymn to our God; Many will see and be afraid, And shall hope in
the Lord. Blessed is the man whose hope is the name of the Lord."
(Psalm 39:1-5)

Dear Friends,

As you know in December we send our "flock" liturgical calendars, a Nativity Icon prayer card or a Christmas card made by Sunday School children. We received this letter at the end of the month and wanted to share with you God’s blessings.

"I wanted to write and thank you for the letter and beautiful Nativity Icon.
I love our Icon’s! They have an extremely special place in my heart. They
bring the light of heaven into these gray walls."  (Dennis in Washington)

baptism-iconHere is another letter we just received this week. It is from David in South Carolina. He wrote:

"I have had a rough year. I haven’t been a good witness for Christ.
I struggled throughout most of last year. I fell over and over, but God was
merciful to me. I have been to confession and talked to my priest and I
am back on the right track. Glory to God! I do have some good news. We had
our first Orthodox Baptism! It was a joyous event. He took on the name of "Silas".
Could you please add him to your mailing list?"

As the above scripture says, Dennis and David’s hope is in the Lord. They have put a new song (hymn) in their hearts, and through their struggles as Christians the Lord is giving them strength.

Thank you for praying for these men and women. May God Bless you this coming year with His mercy and grace.
