[Man Clasping Hands] Father's Messages -
August 2008

Dear Friends,

St. John the Baptist was a link of the Old Testament and the New Covenant. I consider him to be the first "street evangelist". His ministry was very powerful. He preached repentance and reconciliation to those who were seeking redemption and the embrace of our God who loves His creation. He paid the ultimate price. He was martyred for his faith in Christ!

"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.! This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ "I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water." (St. John 1:29-31)

Prison Ministry is a unique calling. Our goal is to reach out to those who have chosen a crooked path. Many of those to whom we minister had no desire to live on the crooked path. The lack of spiritual instruction, hard family life, abandonment and other bad choices have left a lot of men and women living on the brink of darkness. We believe this dark path can be overcome. Please remember the prison ministry of the Fellowship of St. Silas with your prayers and kind gifts. Our goal for these many years is to bring the mercy of God and His loving care to those who hear the call of the Baptist crying in the wilderness.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. (St. John 1:6-9)

The light of Christ illumines all!

In His love I write,

Fr. David
